The association WLF WomanLifeFreedomEurope e. V., registered in Germany, is composed of activists with diverse beliefs. We came together from different cities and countries across Europe, united by a shared pain after the murder of Jina (Mahsa) Amini on September 16, 2022, and the start of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Iran. We aim to establish freedom and justice based on human rights in Iran. Our first in-person meeting was held in Munich, Germany, in April 2023. The association was officially registered as a non-profit organization in Cologne (Köln), Germany, in March 2025.

To this end, our preferred political system for the future of Iran is a secular* and democratic republic**, founded on national unity and cultural-ethnic diversity. It goes without saying that we will accept the choice of the Iranian people regarding the country’s future, as determined through a fair electoral process. Politically, we are moderate and do not support any individual alternative to the Islamic Republic.

Common beliefs and values

– We believe in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its supplementary covenants.

– We believe that the path to achieving a secular and democratic society in Iran is through nonviolent and civil resistance.

– We believe in the territorial integrity of Iran within the framework of international law.

– We condemn any form of discrimination based on ethnicity, social class, skin color, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, or religious belief.

– We believe that the key path to achieving the above-mentioned goal lies in education, organization, transparency, and adherence to democratic principles in decision-making.

Within the framework of the association, we will not collaborate with the following groups:

  • Groups that have any kind of relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran
  • Groups that violate Iran’s territorial integrity in any way
  • Groups with a history of being on terrorist watch lists

For example, groups such as Mojahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) or The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), violent organizations, NIAC, Reformists, agents, and affiliates of the Islamic Republic regime fall under these categories.

The principles and values outlined in this memorandum are unchangeable.

*Secular: The separation of religion (ideology) and government. Laws and policies must not be religious, Sharia-based, or ideological.

**Democratic Republic: A Republic is a type of government in which power rests with the people, and the election of representatives is done by the people. The election of the highest political authority is done by these representatives or directly by the people. A republic alone is not necessarily democratic. A Democratic Republic is a republic that is built upon democratic principles. This means that the people elect their representatives in free elections. The people directly or indirectly elect the highest political authority in the country. There is a constitution in place that protects the rights of minorities against the majority vote.
